When it comes to natural remedies to lower the blood pressure there are a lot of options on the market, but few are the ones who are backed with tons of research behind them. We are not talking about drugs here, but only natural amino acids or herbal and plant extracts. The difference is mainly in the fact that supplements do stimulate our body to deal with the problem and at least are missing the long list of side effects on the back of the label. Before considering adding a supplement from the current list you can always consult with your doctor because of the synergistic effect of the supplements and some drugs if you are gonna use them together. Consider also that you need to know whats the reason for you to have high blood pressure. The most often one is lack of physical activity and exercise. Secondary usually is bad food habits like eating junk food on everyday basis or abusing drinks containing caffeine. Dealing with those problems and supplementing right you can eradicate and root of the problem, but taking drugs often is just a delaying the inevitable.

L- Arginine – A free form amino acid which has a many benefits, but some of them are mainly its vasculatory properties. Its proven in many clinical trials that L-Arginine increases the blood flow , reduce the blood pressure, increase the nitric oxide in the blood (also a reason to be an agent reducing the blood pressure) and maintains a variety of metabolic functions including its role in hormone production. The important thing here is that suplemental Arginine increase the Arginine in the blood plasma. We mention this because not every advert or trial for a supplement shows what method was used for the agent to get in the body. In this case the Arginine has excellent oral bioavailability.

Tip: However the half life of the amino acids is not very long so if you are going to use arginine on a daily basis we do suggest spreading the dose through the day to maintain stable blood pressure levels. Taking it on an empty stomach is also preferable.

Directions of use: Taking 2-3 grams of pure L-arginine or 4-5 grams of Arginine AKG is considered as a normal dose. Spread the doses through the day preferably after waking up and between meals.

L-Citrulline – Again a free form amino acid considered good for many reasons. Citrulline is an arginine precursor making all the properties of arginine apply for citrulline itself. There a many new researches which suggest that this amino acid is even superior to Arginine if we are talking about blood pressure reducing properties. Why? Because it shows way more promising results if used for a long term health supplementation and has a little bit longer half life in the body. L-Citrulline is very good for the mood and even increases the stamina without affecting the neural system. Thats why we do recommend it as an Arginine analogue.

Directions of use: 2-3 grams of pure L-citrulline or 5 grams of Citrulline Malate is what we consider as a normal and even optimal dose. Again as with arginine spread the doses through the day.

Garlic and Hawthorn extract

You were thinking about reducing the blood pressure via nature's way. These are our favorites in this list. Because approaching the problem with natural remedies such as plant extracts from the garlic clove and hawthorn berries seems the most harmless and close to us. There are hundreds researches on garlic not only for this purpose, but for variety others like reducing the bad cholesterol profiles, stimulating the immune function, antioxidant properties, endurance, testosterone production, regulating the inflammation, reducing and preventing sickness and many others backed up with clinical trials with noted positive effects. Its maybe one of the most potent plant derived supplements for reducing the blood pressure. Why adding hawthorn? Again not only because it acts synergistically on increasing the blood flow but mainly because it eases up the stress. Its often found in variety of stress formulas or before sleep solutions without having any sedative functions. Its just a synergistic herb we do suggest when having high blood pressure.

How to dose them: 500-1000 mg of Garlic extract and 300-600 mgs of Hawthorn extracts daily before or with food.

Q10 supplements

The supplement of the heart. Often supplemental aid with Q10 is required only by the elder people because fading the ability of metabolic producing and obtaining good levels through average diet. Powerful antioxidant and energy producing element for every living being the Q10 is one of the most vital supplements when it comes to blood pressure and heart related problems. Again backed up with research there is nothing to add for this little but potent agent which can be found in every pharmacy around the world.

Directions of use: 100 mg per day is a regular dose for an average user. We do suggest taking it always with food containing fats, because its fat soluble. Many nutritionist suggest stacking it with Omega 3 fish oils because of the many synergistic effects between them.

You can use each one of the mentioned supplements alone or stacked one with another in the suggested dose. Every mentioned supplement above has more than one study behind it making it our choice of recommendation.
